Our Team Gary Malouf, Jr.

Gary serves as the CTO of Algorand, overseeing the development of Algorand’s layer-1 blockchain. With extensive expertise in building and scaling engineering teams across a spectrum of companies, from startups to large enterprises, Gary has excelled in the large-scale data, event processing and blockchain spaces.

Before joining Algorand, Gary served as Engineering Director at Wayfair, where he led the engineering teams responsible for their customer information platform (DMP), bootstrapped their machine learning platform, and scaled the onsite media and sponsored products platform; the latter growing 3x into a $100 million recurring revenue business over an 18-month span.

Prior to Wayfair, Gary held several technical leadership roles including the Head of Engineering at OfferLogic (later acquired by Rokt) and Chief Architect at digital media trading startup with Bill Lederer.

Gary holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics from Marist College and a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from Northeastern University. Gary is married and a father when not advising entrepreneurs and investing.
